Villa Olmo in Como
The most imposing neoclassical dwelling in the city of Como. Villa Olmo – named after a giant tree that no longer exists – was built at the end of the 18th century. Now the property is used for conferences and prestigious painting exhibitions (Miró, Picasso and Magritte).
The garden and park surrounding the Villa are always open to the public.Villa Carlotta in Tremezzo
The Villa, the stairway and the landscaped garden were built at the end of 17th century. Inside the Villa there is a significant museum that collects statues, paintings and original furniture from the neoclassical period, which include some works by Canova.

Built in 1605, this Villa is owned by the Rockefeller Foundation, which uses it for studies and conferences.
The huge scenic park, that is a consistent part of Bellagio’s promontory, is accessible to the public from April to November. Guided tours available. Call 031 951555

Villa Melzi d’Eril in Bellagio
On the shores of Lake Como, in this Villa’s beautiful garden, you can admire many fine sculptures, among which the famous “group of Dante and Beatrice” by Comolli. A visit to the ‘orangerie ” – now transformed into a small museum – and the family chapel are also worth a visit. Call 031950204

Villa Balbianello in Lenno
On the promontory of Lenno lies the splendid Villa del Balbianello, built in 1700 by incorporating an ancient monastery. The top floor is a museum which exhibits an art collection and the travel-souvenirs of the explorer Guido Monzino. Access by motor boat or by foot-path in stated days of the week. Phone 0344 56110

Villa Monastero in Varenna

Villa Cipressi in Varenna
Villa Cipressi a complex of buildings and gardens rich in history, built between 1400 and 1800, preserves a beautiful botanical garden that extends across multiple levels and offers a breathtaking panorama of the lake. The villa is now used as an hotel; the gardens are open from March to October. Tel 0341 830113
